In this article, we will analyse three trends: green technology, 5G wireless technology and cybercrime.

Green technology
Technological developments can help to reduce pollution and stop climate change. A number of innovative companies all over the world are active in this field. Let’s look at some.
Switzerland-based Climeworks has developed a method and system to extract carbon dioxide from the air and store it. By combining carbon dioxide with sustainably produced hydrogen a membrane fuel is produced. This membrane fuel hardly produces any carbon dioxide once it is used. The Climeworks factory is able to extract 150 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the air and process them.

Researchers working for Michigan University have developed a process to turn algae into fuel. This fuel is not only much more efficient, but it is also more environmentally friendly because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 60%.

5 G digital technology
Hologram telephone calls are no longer science fiction. 5G turns these into reality. It allows for faster, better and more reliable wireless communication. This does not only relate to person-to-person communication, but also to communication between persons and machines. The development of 5G will boost communication among autonomous vehicles. What requires further research is the impact of 5G on our health.

Cybercrime gets more advanced
Cybercriminals are getting more and more criminal opportunities because of the Internet of Things (IoT) that makes more machines, computers, servers, etc. communicate with each other. Cloud solutions also mean that cybersecurity has to be tightened up and become more advanced.

Today’s standard security is outdated tomorrow. Companies and governments will have to develop and use many and more advanced security systems to protect their data. Deep learning technology can help to protect the individual and the organisation. The number of cyberattacks will substantially increase in 2019. It is a pity that the legislator still lives in the previous century when it comes to this form of crime.
